The Acquittal from Condemnation

Every man was judged and found guilty when Adam disobeyed God’s commandment. It didn’t matter that it was Adam alone that disobeyed God.

Unfortunately all mankind were in Adam when he disobeyed God. In Adam, we all sinned against God; as such we all participated in his punishment, we all inherited death from Adam.

Fortunately for man, Jesus Christ came to die on his behalf. Although Jesus is God, the Bible says that He did not consider Himself to be equal with God. He assumed the position of a Son; came to this world in order to be crucified for the sins of mankind.

Jesus became man in order to die for man. As a man, He was obedient to the Father in all things, even unto the shameful and painful death of the cross. He did this because of the love He has for man.

He bored the sins of the whole world upon His flesh so as to crucify sin in the flesh.

The transaction that took place at Calvary was the exchange of the sinful nature of the world. At Calvary cross, the sins of the whole world were imputed to the flesh of Jesus; and Jesus nailed it to the cross.

His obedient to death was for the salvation of the souls of mankind from everlasting damnation. His death on the cross was the crucifixion of the sins of the whole world.

Although we did not die together with Jesus on the cross but He bore our sins in His body and nailed it to the cross. In other words, our sins were crucified when Jesus was crucified.

So in the same way we were in Adam when he disobeyed God and inherited death from Adam; so also are we in Christ when He died on the cross and inherited the forgiveness of sins and the gift of righteousness.

The Free Gift of God

Death is the price that every sinner must pay. The sinner is sentenced to death. The sinner deserve to die because he is guilty of sin.

Sin brought death upon all flesh. Death reign through sin. The Bible says that every soul that sin must die. Therefore death is the pronounced judgement for sin.

When a judgement is passed based on the provisions of a legal document: it cannot be faulted as unjust.

Man sinned against God. He disobeyed God’s commandment; he was guilty of disobedience and he deserved to die as provided by the law.

Man didn’t plead guilty. Man did not ask to be forgiven. Man went away, bearing upon himself the consequences of his sin and waiting hopelessly for the day of judgement.

Man was yet at this wretched state of hopelessness when God’s mercy found him and Grace saved him.

Mercy is God’s loving kindness towards man. Literally speaking, mercy is the act of forgiveness. It is forgiving a man of the wrongs he has committed.

Man sinned against God and deserve to die but God’s mercy says No. God, Who is rich in mercy intervened on behalf of man and declared man not guilty.

God achieved this by sending His own Son Jesus, Who knew no sin to become a sin for the man. God didn’t go against the existing law; He observed the existing law by substituting His own Son as a sin sacrifice to be crucified on behalf of man.

God’s loving kindness towards man was such that He did not spare His own Son but gave Him up to die for man.

The death of Jesus Christ was the forgiveness of the sin of man and the justification of mankind. The death of Jesus Christ made and declares man not guilty of sin. In other words, man is freed from sin and its consequences because of the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ.

Grace is referred to as an undeserved favor. While mercy is the forgiveness of sin; Grace is an unmerited favor to a forgiven person.

God didn’t just forgive man his sins through the blood of Jesus Christ, God went further to give the forgiven man His righteousness, His Holy Spirit and His eternal Life.

The Grace of God which is God’s wonderful free gift of salvation is available to everyone through faith in Christ Jesus.

Alive to God

The life we now live, we live by the faith of the Son of God. Our lives are purchased by the blood of Jesus. God paid the price to deliver man from sin and death with the precious blood of the spotless, stainless Lamb of God.

We are alive because of Christ. Man was sentenced to death because of sin. The world was condemned to everlasting damnation but the Bible says, ‘for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son Jesus, that whosoever believes in Him shall not die but have everlasting life.’

God saved man from death. He did that by sending His only begotten Son Jesus Christ, that man through faith in Christ Jesus, will be saved.

Man is alive because of Christ. He died that man may live. He exchanged His life for the man. Jesus died the death meant for man and man lives the life that Jesus gives. In other words, the life that man lives is the life of Jesus Christ.

The life that man lives does not belong to him. Man’s old sinful life died with Christ on the cross of Calvary.

Every man in Christ received a new life. This new life is called’The eternal life’. It is the very life of God.

The new life is for God. It is specifically for the service of God. It is a life empowered and blessed to serve the purpose of God.

It is an error to live as though the life belong to man. It is an error to use the life to serve the purpose of the devil. It is an error to live any longer in sin.

We are alive to live for God.

The Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus

Glory be to God, Who has set man free from the law of sin and death which states that every soul that sin must die.

Man disobeyed God and ate of the tree which God commanded him not to eat and as such he died from the nature of the image and likeness of God into the nature of sin. This is the first death.

The sin nature empowered death. Death reigned over man because of sin. Man became indebted to death.

Besides the spiritual death which is the transformation of the nature of man from divinity into carnality; from the nature of God to the nature of sin, man is also liable to the natural or physical death.

The physical death is the second death. It is the transition from the physical realm of existence. It is the exit of man from this natural world. Man became a mortal being subject to physical death.

Worst still is that sin also sentenced the soul of man to an everlasting damnation. Man is condemned to everlasting damnation because of sin. This is the last death.

Jesus took away the death sentence against man. He died on behalf of man. He fulfilled the requirement of the law of sin and death by becoming a sin for man and dying on the behalf of man. His death on the cross for the sins of the whole world was the fulfillment of the righteous requirement of the law of sin and death.

The law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus states that anyone who believes in Christ Jesus shall not die but have everlasting life. Anyone who believes in Jesus Christ shall not experience the last death because the law of the Spirit of Life gives everlasting life.

The law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus has set man free from the first and the last death. In other words, because of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus, man is no longer a sinner and as such has been exonerated from everlasting damnation.

This law is effective on anyone who believes in Jesus Christ.
